How does the Legislative Branch Check the Executive Branch and Judicial Branches?
1.Congess checks the President when legislators,
a. Override presidential vetos with a 2/3's vote in both houses
b. Impeach and convict a president
c. Reject presidential appointments
d. Reject treaties
e. Withhold fundings from initiatives
f. Confirm presidential appointees
2. The Legislative Branch checks on the Judicial system when legislators,
a. Confirms or refuses to confirm federal judges/justices
b. Impeach or convict federal judges/justices
c. Use their power to initiate constitutional amendment
d. Use their power to set courts inferior to the Supreme Court
e. Use their power to alter the size of the Supreme Court
Note: If the size is drastically increased, the President may select all the new judges/justices and change the sway of power
f. Use their power to set jurisdiction of courts. ( They can tell court that they cannot hear a case on a certain topic.)
